The student council is starting a new mentoring project. What we do is we help new kids get to know their peers, surroundings, and of course the rules of Artec Day Treatment. We will help kids that are struggling in school, kids who maybe get in trouble too much, or kids who need help in General. We did have a couple activities that were recent… We threw a Bake Sale for Artec to raise money so we would be able to have more decent decorations for a special activity ($300). We had a Halloween dance for Day Treatment; because Student Council thought it would be nice to just have fun for a day. After the Activity occurred some peers and staff say “This was the best dance we have had here ever, you guys did an excellent job.”
TEACH ME SOMETHING *POI* Poi: "Poi" is the Maori word for "ball" on a cord. Poi is a form of juggling and/or when glow sticks or fire is swung around the body. Poi can take many shapes and forms from LED lighted, Glow, Fabric, and fire. The word "Poi" is both plural and singular. (I have one Poi, he has two Poi). From its beginnings Poi had the purpose of enhancing dance and rhythm. It was soon realized that Poi swinging had several other benefits from wrist strength, flexibility and improving co-ordination to name a few. Mastering simple Poi moves can quickly improve self-esteem and gain respect from others. Hence the reason it quickly becomes addictive. And like all performance arts you are only limited by your imagination. LED (light emitting diodes) provides a very robust and impact resistant light source. LED's also have a life of 50,000+ hours, are very efficient and available as "ultra bright" making them ideal in the making of LED lighted Poi. Onlookers are attracted as the floating trail of light chases behind the Poi while you dance. I love doing POI! I think it is so much fun and it is also a good exercise. I am being taught right now from my friend who is a professional glow sticker; a company called *Liquid Emotions* sponsors him. I am also teaching my self some new tricks too. The song I’m going to write about is called Sissy’s Song. The reason why I like this song is because I sang it at my grandma’s funeral. I think it has a lot of meaning to it. I think that you guys should check it out on Youtube and if you want to check it out, the artist is Allan Jackson or you can look it up by the song. My dad even likes it so that has to tell you a lot Lol.

Zelda Ocarina of Time video game review
Zelda is this 3D adventure game that you start out as a kid and you have to earn a shield and find a sword in this gigantic maze full of giant boulders that chase you and try to kill you. As soon as you get the items that you need to start your quest you need to go around and search for (Rupees). Rupees are money in this game and the more rupees you have the more things you can buy, for example ten rupees can buy you twenty seeds for your sling shot that is if you have one this early in the game. Really the main point of this game is to get all the power source gems and save princess Zelda from Majora’s castle.

Who’s leaving this month by Zachary S.
Hi this report is about our favorite student Zachary S. He’s turning 18 on the 18th of November 2010. He will be going to a different school called The Alliance House. That’s where they will teach him to live life and find a job and a house. So wish him luck for the next following week that is coming up. The day will be on a Thursday. My opinion is that “I'm very excited about all this. I’m trying to save money for a plane ticket to move to the Philippines.” (:

Halo-Video game review-halo- I give the game five stars.
There are aliens and there are deformed mutant humans. Halo is a robot ball and it can fly. There are also other flying robots that have lasers. There are even battle rifles, assault rifles, bombs, grenades and more. The spartons are the bosses and the ones that go into battle and kill the aliens and the deformed mutant humans. I like to play Halo it makes me happy.

Entitlement is the belief that you’re deserve things that others don’t get, simply because you are you or you are in the position you are in (I.E if you work for a restaurant you ought to eat for free). Many people hold secret beliefs of entitlement and don’t even know it. Thoughts like, “ I will always have a place in the world” and, “people will accept me always.” Are examples of such beliefs. The truth is not all people will always have a place in the world and people won’t always accept you. People who harbor entitled beliefs live outside the range of reality, unless they are able to challenge their ways of thinking those people won’t be able to live life to the extent that you or I do. Those very same people you see living the big life who won’t go to a certain restaurant unless they have their own personal booth or the people who are in the supermarket yelling at the cashier for doing their job and not accepting their coupon that’s expired will always feel like they have been done wrong and that even the whole world is conspiring against them. Those such people are very often unable to change their thinking on their own; it’s up to the people of the community around those people to step up and take their position in the change- in short, you can’t wait around for the next person to come and take care of the problem, you have to make a difference. One way to challenge Entitlement is to think about how others feel when you act that way. If you are trying to help someone who is being entitled you just continually ask them how other people feel when they act that way, (that is just to get them thinking about how what they do affects others) younger people are easier to impress upon when you start teaching them positive thought processes. The other way of thinking that I want to focus on has more of a profound affect; the thought would be: “Am I fond of the way I’m treated when I’m acting so?” and “If I Particularly enjoy the way people treat me when I act that way, why do I?” This makes people question their thoughts with motivation that is helpful to change. In my experience, entitlement is a hard thought process to challenge because people feel perfectly justified in their endeavors. Even though someone can change their thinking by themselves to become healthier, it is extremely hard to do. So the best way in my opinion is by intervention. Don’t give up things may get worse before they get better.
